Advancing a Waste Prevention and Reduction Agenda in Canada
The National Zero Waste Council (NZWC), in collaboration with Metro Vancouver and GLOBE 2014, invites you to a Special Session at the Globe 2014 International Forum on Business and the Environment in Vancouver. To attend this free workshop, please register here for a Trade Fair Pass (choose “Buy Trade Fair Pass” and use Registration Code – visitzero – to waive fees).
Waste generation – ranging from food to packaging and beyond – is one of Canada’s leading economic and environmental challenges facing cities and communities across the country. Canada’s National Zero Waste Council is a new cross-sectoral leadership initiative tackling this challenge head on, driving forward a national waste prevention and reduction agenda by encouraging design and behavior change.
The Special Session at Globe offers an inside look at the Council; its activities since launching in October 2013, and a thought-provoking discussion on how businesses and governments in Canada, the UK and beyond are addressing concerns over waste; why, and when they see change happening; what the difficulties are in moving a waste prevention and circular economy agenda forward; and what creative and bold opportunities are upcoming that will help garner big wins in securing a world without waste.
Moderated by CBC’s Marketplace Host, Erica Johnson, speakers include:
Jamie Butterworth, Chief Executive, Ellen MacArthur Foundation, United Kingdom
Shelley Carroll, Councillor, City of Toronto, & Director, National Zero Waste Council
Michael Goeres, Executive Director, Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment
